Additional Excursion Options in Aswan

OPTION 1: Visit to the Nubian Museum - 2 hour duration

Description: In November 1997, the long-awaited Nubia Museum opened in Aswan. It has been worth the wait as it displays thousands of antiquities that would have been lost under the waters of Lake Nasser had not a major international effort salvaged them during the 1960s and '70s. Also among the highlights are scenes of Nubian life demonstrated with a range of life-size displays. The museum also features exhibits highlighting aspects of Nubia influenced during the Greco-Roman, Coptic and Islamic periods.

OPTION 3: Visit to the Kalabsha Temple - 3 hour duration

Description: Kalabsha Temple, known in ancient times as Talmis, was built over an earlier New Kingdom site during the Roman period for Caesar Augustus. It was dedicated to Isis, Osiris, and Horus-Mandulis, the Roman aspect of the Nubian solar god Merwel. This is perhaps the finest example of afreestanding temple in Nubia and is constructed from sandstone blocks in the traditional Egyptian style. Kalabsha Temple was moved to its present location in 1970, together with other monuments from Nubia. The Kiosk of Qertassi, with its two Hathor – headed columns, was moved at the same time and now stands near the water commanding fine views over Lake Nasser.

The spice used to do it though, is so strong that the henna tattoo can last several weeks. lthough Nubian music is famous worldwide, it is not as easy to find in Egypt as one can expect.
