GENERAL
Beach, bars and some of the best food in Europe – Lisbon might be one of the lesser-known greats on the continent, but it certainly packs a punch. With a backdrop of cobbled streets, hidden courtyards and overlooked by seven spectacular hillsides, you’ll be surrounded by all the romance of Europe. Catch one of their iconic trams around the city, hopping from café, to restaurant, to bar – all with the same laidback feel of a city that knows how to eat and drink. And whilst you’re there make sure you don’t miss out on their famed pastel de nata – these Portuguese tarts are what legends are made of.

The standard of private medical facilities and care in major cities is comparable to Australia. Public facilities, particularly in regional and rural areas vary in standard. Costs for medical treatment are very high, especially for treatment at private medical facilities. Payment for medical services is expected at the time of treatment. However, private hospitals may seek confirmation of insurance cover or seek a guarantee of payment before admitting a patient

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 112 and ask for an ambulance.

FOOD AND DRINK:
Tap water is safe to drink and food standards are similar to those of Australia, so take the same precautions as you would at home.
